Cassio is a certified medical illustrator located in Boston, Massachusetts.

For nearly 14 years, he was a medical illustrator at the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in Chicago, a weekly peer-reviewed publication of clinical and basic medical research. He had the privilege of being the first full-time medical illustrator in JAMA's 117 year history, and was instrumental in establishing and building up Department of Editorial Graphics and the current services it provides. His primary work has encompassed figures and multimedia features to accompany both scientific review articles and patient education information in print and online for an audience of physicians, researchers, scientists, allied health professionals, and medical students. He has tackled a variety of medical subject matter from basic anatomy to advanced pathology and disease pathways, to patient situation and editorial illustration. And, in doing so, Cassio has had the pleasure of collaborating with a diverse group of content experts, editors, writers, and other illustrators.

Cassio is a partner and principal of Amino Creative, and continues to take on projects that challenge his technical, conceptual, and creative skills as an artist and communicator. Cassio also maintains an avid interest in fine art illustration, in large part because of his background in traditional studio art. Cassio is always eager to entertain ideas for cross-discipline projects. If interested in collaborating, to find out his availability and to obtain estimates, contact him here.

Cassio received his MA in Medical and Biological Illustration from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2000, and has been a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators since 1996 and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators since 2000. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and received recognition and awards.
